Parents are always keen to know what is expected of the students regarding work to be done at home. The expectation at year 4/5 level is between 20 and 30 minutes 4 times a week. This is not to say that students can't do more if they wish. In 5.1 I do not set homework for the whole class, as each student is different and they are working levels ranging from grade 3 standard to work expected at a year 7 level. As a parent you need to be aware that the students have a reading diary and this must be filled out at least 3 times a week. Starting form week 3 the library will be open and all students will be able to borrow books. In Mathematics there have been a few tests in the students ability to work with number. Their results are in their 'Communication Book' so parents can see where their child needs to improve. The Oxford Word Spelling list is also in this book, so the parents can keep track of the words that their child needs to learn on the page with a title 'Words to Learn'.
